Walking Sports overview
Who said you to have to run to enjoy playing sport?
It's not all about the pace you play it, it's the skill you play it with. Our Walking Sports are a great way to have fun, keep your mind & body healthy and active, whilst making new friends. Take a look at our comprehensive Walking Sports Programme.
Walking Netball is a slower version of the game; it is netball, but at a walking pace. The game has been designed so that anyone can play it regardless of age or fitness level. Women the length of the country have begun playing the game of Walking Netball for the fun, laughter and camaraderie that the sessions bring, as much as the health benefits on offer. It can give those who feel isolated an outlet, provide an activity for those who do not deem themselves fit enough to run anymore and offer a steppingstone for those looking for a pathway back into netball.

Walking Football is exactly what it sounds like – a standard of the game of football where players walk instead of run.’ It’s designed to help people get fit or maintain an active lifestyle, as well as to support people getting back into football that may have given up due to age, injury or lack of opportunity. Older people who play have seen many benefits including, lower heart rate and blood pressure, weight loss, muscle build and better mobility.
It’s not just health benefits – walking football also offers social benefits. Participants can meet new people, avoid becoming isolated, and interact with individuals and small groups. This is one sporting activity that may be just suitable for all. Living the same routine year after year can sometimes make people feel like they’re going through the motions. However, joining in a physical activity with a group of people your age can be a breath of fresh air, make you laugh and give you a good time. It’s a great way to get out more, meet new people and feel better. We all want to stay mobile and continue enjoying our daily activities independently. Doing a bit of regular activity will keep you feeling healthy and happier in and during later life.
